State Recognition Events
2008
Child Care Resource & Referral ~ Metro celebrates Provider Appreciation Day by inviting all the child care providers and the children in their program to our Annual Day at the Aviary. Providers receive an appreciation certificate in the mail and an invitation to spend the day at the Aviary, where they received materials, curriculum ideas and refreshments to make the day memorable. There are also activity tables through out the park offering story time, art and craft and physical activities. The aviary also accommodates two bird shows for our providers, and our friendly CCR&R staff is available for emergencies, lost and found and to help providers enjoy this day.
The National Provider Appreciation Day office salutes Erin Bitterolf for her unceasing energy and commitment to recognition for the early childhood workforce of Utah. "Here´s what’s up this year (2003)! PFCCA is coordinating the governor´s signing a proclamation this year. Tuesday, April 29, 2003, 2:00 at the Governor’s office in the state capital with a small reception to follow in the Capital Rotunda. Our historian is in charge of the gift for Governor Leavitt this year and is making an adorable book with handprints of children in child care from all over the state with the front page made up of small handprints making an outline of Utah wit the title ´hand in hand together we can.´ Cedar City this year is being helped with donations from the Women in Business Committee for prizes to give out on the Chamber of Commerce TV show. Other chapters will be giving out gifts, cards, flowers, and having Appreciation Day dinners. Last, but not least because it is the hardest to do, there is also a sate-wide mailing by the Professional Family Child Care Association, which is the state family child care association, with help from the Office of Child Care and the Utah Private Child Care Association – which is the state association for centers. They are mailing out a packet with a PAD card, a flier explaining what it is, and a copy of the Proclamation to all licensed centers and family child care providers in the state." – Erin
"PIP4KIDZ rented a park pavilion where they honored providers in the south valley communities of Salt Lake City. There were lots of giveaways as well as many resources that I have collected from various sources to help support providers in all they do for children. We had games, door prizes, cake and drinks. We handed out wonderful certificates of appreciation to all of our providers. This is our 1st annual Provider Appreciation Day event and we hope to continue on each year with special recognition of our providers." – Carolyn Ausborn, Director
Erin reports that Governor Leavitt has signed a proclamation declaring May 10, 2002 Provider Appreciation Day in Utah. (THANK YOU ERIN for the great picture of the actual signing!) It was signed at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at the Capital with a reception in the Capital Rotunda following. Last year Erin coordinated an effort to have children make a book about their Provider. It was given to the Governor when he signed the 2001 proclamation. In Y2000, Governor Michael O. Leavitt signed a proclamation and urged all citizens to recognize child care providers for their important work. For details contact Erin Bitterolf. mcgirk@pdqnet.net

Our CCR&R will be honoring our child care providers with a provider appreciation luncheon. This is an annual event. We have it on campus at the student center. This year the theme is "It´s A Jungle Out There." The decorations will be jungle/rain forest. After enjoying a fee luncheon we will be playing games and interacting with learning centers that teach the providers about the rain forest. This will give them ideas to use in their centers and homes to set up learning centers for the children. - Julia Mohr,Director Child Care Resource and Referral Mountainland
