Governor Bill Owens signed proclamation stating that May 9, 2003 was Provider Appreciation Day in Colorado, as he did in 2002.


In 2001Governor Roy Romer recognized Provider Appreciation Day with an honorary proclamation.


The Association of Child Care Providers of Weld County asked individual community Mayors and government officials to proclaim May 9, 2003 as Provider Appreciation Day. They also honored providers and Board members and did family and community outreach activities to promote the day.


In Gunnison County, the Extension Nutrition Programs of the Colorado State University Cooperative Extension reported that, "the Wells Fargo Bank donated money to buy flowers for each provider, local volunteers offered to bake cookies and the local media was more than willing to write articles. We collected quotes about care, children etc. and attached them to the flowers and delivered them to our local licensed providers." They further add, "What a great idea for an appreciation day for many reasons; two of which are: to recognize providers for the work they do and to bring attention to the community value of quality child care. Thanks for letting us know about this day so we could make it special for providers."


In 2002, Family Resources and Child Care Education, the lead agency for Metro Denver Child Care Resource and Referral in Colorado is honoring our local providers by sending them a certificate of appreciation and training gift certificate. We cover eight counties in the Metro Denver area, serving approximately 3,500 licensed providers.

Park County Vision 2020 will host a provider appreciation dinner for child care providers through out Park County. The Park County Board of County Commissioners will present providers with various child care awards. For more information e-mail comeandplay2@hotmail.com

April 9th 2003 Gunnison County celebrated Provider Appreciation day by providing a rose to all home and center child care providers along with a quote about the importance of caring for young children. The local newspaper ran PSA's before the date encouraging parents and community members to celebrate. They also ran a feature article on child care providers. The events were coordinated by Colorado State University Cooperative Extension- Gunnison county and community volunteers help make it possible.The flowers were made possible by a donation from Wells Fargo Bank of Gunnison and Rocky Mountain Rose flower shop.


Provider Appreciation 2004 at United States Air Force Academy: That time of year again. Our parents are paying for our providers and spouses to have a Banquet on the night of May 7th. Awards and gifts will be given to each provider with Honors going to "Provider of the Year" and "Rookie of the Year," also that night. Thanks, Linda Smith FCC Coordinator USAFA

   This year, 2006, at the Air Force Academy the parents will fund a dinner for providers and their spouse. At that time we honor Provider of the Year and Rookie of the Year.
